The Digital Media Production Diploma Program (DMP)
The *DMP diploma program is IMI’s first course offering that is taught over 24 weeks. DMP is an 812-hour diploma program designed to develop your skills to the entry level required for a graphic design position. DMP’s unique curriculum combines Indigenous cultural tradition with the very latest in technological training to give you the skills and confidence you need to
succeed…in just 6 months!
You will participate in work experience placements and project-based student internships to assist Aboriginal organizations in developing various aspects of their communication needs.
When you graduate, you will have an individual portfolio to showcase the practical and technical skills you have mastered. You’ll be prepared for entry-level career opportunities in a variety of fields. Or, you can choose to apply what you’ve learned and receive further training from IMI for other creative technologies, including Broadcasting, Filmmaking, Journalism, and Art.
Overall, the Digital Media Production program is divided into the following three main areas of instructional focus:
1. Full suite graphics programs (Adobe CS3, Open Source apps)
2. Web programs and languages (HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP,)
3. Media creation (photography, traditional art, video, audio)
*Only students whose tuition is paid by the Government of Alberta or Canada are eligible to enroll in this program. IMI is applying to Advanced Education and Technology to licence this program under the Private Vocational Training Act. Once licensing under this Act is in place for this program, enrollment will no longer be restricted and all students will be eligible to apply for registration.
